The Blackjack model 1-7. Another variant of a classic knife. This 1-7 features a 7 in A2 tool steel blade with a convex grind, black Micarta handles with red spacers and a double guard.

This is a great classic style knife with a solid feel in your hands. The A2 tool steel is well known for it's balance between hardness and toughness, it holds a good edge from my experience with it. I found a nice website with good information about this steel that will go into more depth than I can: http://cartech.ides.com/datasheet.aspx?i=103&e=262&c=techart

What really caught my attention here is the great sheath. Made by Sharpshooter Sheath systems and is all leather and all made in the USA. This is definitely one of the better sheaths I've seen come with a production knife.

Case knives has over the past year released a number of knives they call "Desk Knives" . These small fixed blades come in several handle materials from Ebony wood to Stag and others. The knives feature stainless steel blades in a Wharncliff style with 2.5 inch cutting edges. The handles are curved up and away from the blade, holding the knife is comfortable in a reverse grip, perfect for peeling or whittling.

I was impressed with the fit and finish of these little knives and think they would make a nice, classy and usefull addition to any office desk.

Spyderco Meerkat

Spyderco recently released a new version of the Meerkat, this one has blue gray handles but they still hide the sneaky release mechanism as they always did. Holding the knife correctly and allowing your thumb to push one side of the handle while your other fingers push on the other always the Meekat handle to move and release the lock on the blade, this is a source of much fun when allowing your friends to try and figure out how to close the knife for the 1st time. It's not all fun and games though, the Meerkat is a real knife and features a 2 inch VG-10 Steel blade and comes Spyderco sharp right out of the box.

The Meerkat comes with a wire pocket clip that can be moved to either side of the handles for left or right pocket carry। The handle shape of the Meerkat always the 1st 3 fingers to rest comfortably while the 4th finger lays across the rear of the knife, despite it's small size the knife fills the hand well and makes a great knife for everyday use and carry.
